Vimto – 7 year old male Cockapoo

Image
Vimto is a 7 year old male Cockapoo. He can be very nervous when meeting new people but friendly and relaxed once he gets to know you. Vimto loves to play fetch and chase with his ball and fluffy squeaky toys, he is a very intelligent boy. We are looking for an adult-only forever home for Vimto with no visiting children – Vimto would suit a single personal/quiet home. Vimto would suit an active fit retired person as he can pull hard on the lead. Vimto is house-trained.

Storm – 8 year old male Husky cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Image
Storm is an 8 year old male Husky cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He is, according to his foster mum “a lovely, chilled dog”. Poor Storm found himself in the care of WAW, as his owners no longer wanted him. Storm is doing great in his foster home, who said: “He is very relaxed and absolutely beautiful to have around. He loves his morning walk; he is great with other dogs. Storm loves just napping next to me, he is so gentle and follows me everywhere.” Storm is a relaxed, friendly boy who loves people. He is good in the home, is house-trained, he hasn’t been left much but can do a couple of hours. Storm walks well on his lead; his recall is OK and he is a good traveller. Storm would prefer a home where he is the only pet. Storm is good with children but has never lived with any, so we would consider a home with older 12+ dog-savvy children.

Cooper – 1 year old male Border Collie

Image
Cooper is a 1 year old male Border Collie. He is looking for a new home through no fault of his own, he is a friendly, bouncy, bright boy who loves people. Cooper is great with kids, and we would consider a home with older, dog-savvy children aged 14+. Cooper needs an active home, ideally with a family or person with experience of Border Collies and their specific personality. Cooper is good around dogs and could live with another similar energy dog, subject to successful meetings, he has never lived with cats or other animals, so we would prefer a home without them. Cooper is good in the home, house-trained and can be left for a few hours without issue (currently in a crate). Cooper needs some work on his lead, as he gets a little over excited, he has no recall and is interested in everything around him. Currently, Cooper is not getting the exercise and stimulation he needs so he is a little excitable about meeting, his new family. Cooper will need to be prepared to work on r...

Hoobie – 8 month old male Poodle Cross

Image
Hoobie is an 8 month old male Poodle Cross. Sadly, Hoobie came to us after he was left unclaimed in the pound. Hoobie was heavily matted and initially, we thought he was a shih tzu until we shaved him off and found a different dog underneath, we don’t know what his mix is, but he has a hypoallergenic coat and will need regular grooming as he doesn’t shed. Hoobie will need a home that allows him time and space to come to you – initially, he can be a little timid which is no surprise given he was picked up straying at such a young age, we dread to think where he came from and what sort of treatment he is used to, poor little guy. Once he trusts you, he is an adorable little lad, the transporter that brought him to us fell in love instantly and was tempted to take him home with her, and I can see why! Hoobie is a typical little lap dog once he knows you, he loves nothing more than cuddles, he will quite literally spend his entire day snuggled with you, and at night. Hoobie loves n...

Araminta – 3 year old female Cross-Breed

Image
Araminta is a 3 year old female Cross-Breed. She is fostered in West Suffolk. She is a delight, she’s just fitted in here with my 6 dogs and 2 other fosters. Araminta’s clean in the house and loves a cuddle. After a bath yesterday, which she quite enjoyed she had a mad run around. She’s decided chicken is her absolute favourite. After being thrown from a car and dumped she’s not lost her trust in humans and just wants a happy loving home, she needs someone home most of the day. A similar size dog would be good but I think she could go as an only dog. She ignores my dog-savvy cat and loves her food. Araminta is good on a lead.

Rio – 1 year old male Shepherd Cross

Image
Rio is a 1 year old male Shepherd Cross. He has heaps of potential! He was rescued from the pound in Spain in June and is now ready for his forever home. Rio is currently in foster care in Scotland. Rio is a lovely-natured, affectionate, and very loving dog. He likes to sit next to you on the sofa and get petted once he’s settled. When he’s allowed to get to know other dogs he’s proved himself to be very sociable and loves to play with them. For this reason, he would be best homed with another dog – older than him – who can ‘show him the ropes’ and help build his confidence. Like many young rescues, Rio can be slightly nervous about anything new and likes lots of reassurance, cuddles and TLC. Rio also likes to have a safe area where he can retreat, when he needs space away from others to rest and relax. Rio is full of personality and can be prone to mischief! But he is a food-orientated, intelligent and sensitive dog so he’s responsive and motivated by training and correcting. ...

Nina – 2 year old female Podenco Cross

Image
Nina is a 2 year old female Podenco Cross. She came to the shelter because she was found on the street. The man who brought her could not keep her because he was elderly and not in good health. Nina was very scared when she first came to us but she has now blossomed into a beautiful, friendly and playful girl who loves her walks and splashing in water. Nina still needs to gain more confidence and is not used to normal things but this will improve when she has her own home and family to love. All our animals are chipped, vaccinated, and tested for leishmaniasis, Ehrlichia and babesia health tested before adoption. In situations where the animal is old enough, they are sterilized and an EU passport is provided for those requiring transportation.”

Exploring Big Bend National Park In Texas With Dogs

Image
Planning to visit Big Bend National Park with your dogs? You’ll need to plan ahead! But don’t let the strict pet policies and harsh desert environment deter you. Big Bend is one of the last remaining wild corners in America. It’s a treasure worth exploring.   The Big Bend National Park is named for a vast curve in the Rio Grande River as it cuts between the mesas in this stunning area of southwest Texas. Encompasses more than 800,000 acres along 118 miles of the Rio Grande, this ruggedly beautiful region has a complex and fascinating history. Tucked in a corner in southwest Texas, Big Bend is truly an “off-the-beaten-path” destination. But being isolated in this harsh landscape breeds strong community. The people tough enough to inhabit the Big Bend area are close-knit, creative, and friendly. So when you visit “Big Bend,” remember that the area is also home to the communities of Marathon, Study Butte, Terlingua Ghost Town, and Lajitas. Offering a wide variety of accommodati...
