Rio – 1 year old male Shepherd Cross

Rio is a 1 year old male Shepherd Cross. He has heaps of potential! He was rescued from the pound in Spain in June and is now ready for his forever home.

Rio is currently in foster care in Scotland. Rio is a lovely-natured, affectionate, and very loving dog. He likes to sit next to you on the sofa and get petted once he’s settled.

When he’s allowed to get to know other dogs he’s proved himself to be very sociable and loves to play with them.

For this reason, he would be best homed with another dog – older than him – who can ‘show him the ropes’ and help build his confidence.

Like many young rescues, Rio can be slightly nervous about anything new and likes lots of reassurance, cuddles and TLC.

Rio also likes to have a safe area where he can retreat, when he needs space away from others to rest and relax. Rio is full of personality and can be prone to mischief!

But he is a food-orientated, intelligent and sensitive dog so he’s responsive and motivated by training and correcting.

His basic behaviour is very good – his recall is fantastic and he will happily sit, lie, stay and give paws and he walks very well on the lead.

This playful boy loves to play with all types of toys – balls, rubber sticks, rope toys and teddies.

Rio will bark if someone comes to the door, but will also stop when told and has been around young children and behaved perfectly.

Rio is a smasher. He has so much potential and is desperate for someone to welcome him into their lives with lots of love and a little training to give! He is neutered, vaccinated, microchip and passport. Homecheck.
