Prince – 20 month old male Lurcher

Prince is a 20 month old Lurcher and he is looking for a new home. Although he’s not originally an Underdog, when we heard that he needed some support we wanted to try and help him. Unfortunately, Prince is living in a home that is not suitable for his needs. He has been struggling in the city and needs a less overwhelming environment to call home. He is also a very energetic boy, and is looking for an active, patient and understanding family. Prince is just under two years old and is a sighthound mix. He was part of an accidental litter, and was bought as a puppy, but has consistently struggled in London and requires a more experienced handler. With the support of a local day-care and dog walking business, Prince has had a lot more exposure to other dogs and new people, and he has made a lot of progress regarding his confidence and social skills. Freya is a large crossbreed female aged around ten years old. Freya fostered Kings Lynn Norfolk. She was found in bushes in Crivatu Romania a few years ago and was taken to the private shelter nearby. She is a calm and steady girl who still enjoys short walks. She mixes well with all dogs but is quite a dominant member of the pack. She keeps all the youngsters at the shelter in check with a firm but fair approach and they all love and respect her for that. She could also live happily as the only dog in the home. Freya is an affectionate and loyal companion who would suit someone with large breed experience who can pamper her in her twilight years. Orion is a 1 year old, medium-large, male, Cross-Breed, who is a sweet, friendly, lovely boy waiting for his forever home. He has never truly known what it means to be a carefree puppy. Maddie is a 12-year-old Springer Spaniel currently being fostered in Gloucestershire in an adult family home with other dogs. Maddie recently joined the Starfish family after her previous owner sadly had to move and was unable to keep all of his dogs. Maddie is an ex-working gundog and had spent her entire life living in kennels. Heartbreakingly, when her owner could no longer keep his dogs, Maddie was facing euthanasia simply because there was nowhere for her to go. She was rescued exactly a year ago from horrid circumstances, having been thrown into a yard with her brother, Tommy, at just a few weeks of age. Elena is a five to six year old female Cross-Breed who is medium to large in size and currently fostered in Marlborough, Wiltshire. She can live with or without other dogs, can live with children of all ages, and has not yet been cat tested, though she may be suitable. We met Elena in March this year when we visited the Boto?ani public shelter in Romania. She had a badly twisted front leg. Aspen is a 10 month old Beagle mix who’s life got off to a very rocky start. He was abandoned as a young puppy in Cyprus and found seriously unwell with parvovirus. After spending time in the vets and making a full recovery, he joined the shelter and eventually travelled to the UK as a foster. Since arriving, it’s been a bit of a journey for him, and it’s taken time to really understand what he needs to feel settled and secure. Captain is a 4.5 year old, medium-sized, male, lab cross who was abandoned in Cyprus by his owner 9 months ago. We will never know his full story—maybe his family moved away, or maybe they just decided they no longer wanted him. Whatever the reason, Captain was left behind: alone, confused, and heartbroken. The fact that this boy is so loving and affectionate towards humans is a testament to him. Perhaps it’s because he knows exactly what he has lost and he longs to find that again. He adores being around humans and is just such a happy boy. He doesn’t deserve to be in a kennel. Captain has shown to be selective with other dogs so needs to be the only dog. Raggie is a medium sized crossbreed aged around ten years old. Raggie fostered Norwich. Raggie was rescued from a kill shelter in Romania when he was a youngster and has lived in a private shelter since then. Despite having a nice place to stay all these years it was not a proper home and we really want his retirement to be something more comfortable. Raggie is a sweet and inquisitive boy who enjoys the company of other dogs and is absolutely fine with the safe rescue cat. He would like a quietish home environment with at least one other calm dog in residence. He is not really used to a lot of human contact but is adapting well to human interaction and beginning to really seek it out.
