Sultan – 2 year old male Bedlington Terrier

Please meet Spirited Sultan! Sultan is a 2 year old Bedlington Terrier. Sultan came to us following the arrival of a new baby. He struggled to adjust to this and as a result will need a home with teenage children or adults only.

True to their terrier type, Bedlington’s are “spirited and fierce” as they are very skilled hunters in the field and remain so when kept in a domestic environment.

One of the oldest purebred terriers ever, the Bedlington was originally bred in northern England, but by 1877 its reputation as an extremely capable hunter was spreading to other regions of the country.

These dogs may look like lambs, but they have the heart of a lion.

Sultan is very typical of the breed and will need an owner with experience of this breed. He can be a lovely little cuddle bug but when he gets bored or wants to hunt, he soon becomes a demon!!

Please do not be fooled by his cute fluffy coat, he is the definition of a wolf in sheep’s clothing, all 13kg of him!!

Sultan is a real couch potato of a dog when he is indoors, a diva that will bark if he can’t get a space on the sofa or a dog in in his favourite spot, he will tell you to come and sort it out!!

He is very obedient most of the time, but if he is allowed to get bored, he is also ignorant – so he needs a home that can exercise his legs and his brain!

He walks well on the lead and is pretty reliable off lead but I would never trust him in an open space, if he see’s something dart he is off after it, this includes our chihuahuas!!

He would love a family to snuggle on the sofa with all day with the occasional break for walks and ball chasing, he loves this! He is happy as the only dog or snuggled up with other dogs, but they need to be bigger than him or he can be a bully.

He has never had to share his space.

He is house trained and non-destructive – happy to be left snoozing on the sofa, absolutely adores other dogs so could happily live with a companion but would equally be happy as the only dog.

Sultan is a gorgeous happy lad that so desperately needs a forever home and family of his own. Sultan is neutered, microchipped de flead and wormed and fully vaccinated, he travels well in the car.
