Phoebe 1-2 year old female Shepherd Cross
Phoebe is a 1-2 year old female Shepherd Cross. She sleeps downstairs in a large crate with the door open. Her current owner has been sleeping downstairs with her. She will sometimes wake during the night to make her home aware she needs the toilet.
Phoebe wakes up most mornings at 6 am. Phoebe is happy to be groomed/brushed by the female in the home. Phoebe enjoys going out into the garden to sniff around and explore. She goes out on a slip lead with no issues.
Phoebe has yet to go for a proper walk due to her building her confidence in the garden first and getting used to the lead. It is encouraged that she should wear a harness but this has yet to be introduced.
Positive reward training and allowing Phoebe to explore the harness initially will need to be carried out. She hasn’t been left unattended in the home since arrival so correct training around leaving her for short periods will be vital to prevent anxiety behaviours.

Phoebe listens to commands well and will sit for treats, she is very treat-orientated which will be great for her training going forward. She particularly enjoys beef strips, pigs ears and tiny cubes of cheese as a treat.
Phoebe hasn’t shown any resource-guarding behaviour towards the main female in the home. Phoebe currently eats Purina BETA Adult Kibble, rice and turkey mince. And has no known allergies towards foods. She is fed twice a day at 7 am and 6 pm.
Phoebe has no issues with waterworks or bowel movements. Before coming to the U.K. Phoebe was rescued from a public shelter. She spent many months in a private shelter to prepare her for travel. During her time in a private shelter, Phoebe was cared for by males. S

Phoebe had no aggressive behaviour towards any of the male staff, except touch and walked happily on a lead. She was happy to be handled by the vet and had no issues during vaccines, blood tests or measurements for travel.
Phoebe travelled comfortably to the U.K. and was calm throughout the journey. Since being in her new home she is showing guarding behaviour towards the main female in the home resulting in her nipping the male ( no damage or broken skin.
Phoebe is happy to spend time with the female and listens well to commands and is always happy to see her.

Phoebe doesn’t currently live with any other animals in the home but did spend her time with many dogs in a shelter with no untoward behaviour. She hasn’t previously or up to this point met cats. Adult-only home.
Phoebe enjoys playing with toys and likes a kong filled with treats/peanut butter. Phoebe needs a confident owner to correct certain behaviours and be willing to work on her training.
Phoebe is a very clever dog and would benefit from anything that involves having a job to keep her mind focused.
If you think you could offer Phoebe a home we would love to hear from you. With correct management, we are certain that she will excel. She has already experienced so much trauma in her life one nobody could ever imagine.
