Dolly – 4 year old female Cross-Breed
Dolly is a beautiful large breed cross of just over four years old who is searching for a home where she can truly thrive.
Sadly, Dolly is returning to rescue due to a mismatch in energy levels within her previous home. This isn’t because she is a difficult dog or has done anything wrong.
Instead, she needs a calmer environment with clear boundaries, consistency, and owners who understand how to help her feel secure and relaxed.
Once Dolly feels safe, her wonderful personality shines through. She is affectionate, loyal, and forms incredibly strong bonds with her people.
While she can initially be a little nervous around strangers, a handful of treats and a little patience are usually all it takes before her soft, loving side appears.
Dolly adores human company and is a real cuddle lover. One of her favourite places to be is curled up next to her person, soaking up affection and enjoying life’s simple comforts.
She enjoys her walks and loves exploring new scents and environments. She is very food motivated, which makes her highly trainable and eager to learn. Around the home, Dolly is generally calm and relaxed, happy to settle down and enjoy family life.
Dolly has lived around children aged 5 and 9 years old and has shown herself to be a loving companion. Any children in the home should be dog-savvy and able to respect her space and boundaries.
While Dolly enjoys social interactions with dogs out and about, she would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home where she can fully relax and receive the attention she deserves.
For experienced owners, she could potentially live alongside a calm, balanced dog following careful introductions and ongoing management.
She walks well overall, although she can pull on the lead at times. A head collar has helped improve this significantly. She travels well in the car and enjoys getting out and about with her people.

Dolly is not currently crate trained, although crate training may help build her confidence and provide her with a safe space of her own.
She can show some anxiety when left alone, likely because she has become accustomed to having canine company around her. She has occasionally been lightly destructive, such as chewing slippers, but nothing excessive.
She has also shown some reactivity in situations involving high excitement levels and around food with other dogs.
These behaviours are manageable with structure, boundaries, and appropriate handling, and are another reason why a calmer home environment would suit her best.
Dolly is a bright, affectionate, and intelligent girl with so much love to give. Beneath everything is a dog who simply wants stability, understanding, and a family who will help her be the best version of herself.
For the right home, Dolly will be a fiercely loyal companion, an affectionate cuddle partner, and a devoted best friend.
