Max – 8 year old male Cockapoo

Meet Max – 8-year-old Cockapoo boy

Max is a lovely Cockapoo currently being fostered in an adult home in Gloucestershire, where he is living alongside other dogs.

He came into our care due to the ill health of both of his previous owners, which meant they could no longer care for him. It’s clear he has been much loved and well looked after.

Max has been with us for just under a week, and we are still getting to know him, but what is already very apparent is what a gentle, affectionate, and easy boy he is. He has settled into his foster home really well with no major issues and has proven to be a wonderful house guest.

He is great with both people and other dogs, enjoying their company and even starting to play. He walks nicely both on and off the lead and is relaxed when meeting other dogs out and about.

Max is a typical Cockapoo in many ways — a sensitive, loving little soul who forms strong bonds with his people. He does have a “velcro dog” nature and likes to be close to you. In his previous home, he slept with his owners, and he is currently sleeping upstairs with his foster carer.

There are a couple of things to be aware of as he continues to settle:

Max has been left for up to two hours and did howl on and off during that time. There was no destruction or bad behaviour — he was simply unsettled.

We are told that in his previous home he could be left for a few hours with other dogs without any issues, so this may well improve as he becomes more secure. It is still very early days for him.

He is also not fully comfortable in the car at the moment. He does not get sick but can be quite unsettled during journeys, which again is something we were made aware of and may improve with time and reassurance.

The home Max needs:

We feel Max would be happiest in a home:

With another friendly dog for companionship

With someone who understands rescue dogs and can give him time to fully settle

Where someone is around most of the time, especially initially

Max is a deeply loving, sensitive boy who just wants to be close to his people. Given a little time and patience, he will make an incredibly devoted companion.

Max is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has been very well cared for throughout his life.

If you feel you can offer Max the loving, understanding home he deserves, please email us for an application form.

If you want, I can also do you a shorter Facebook version or one with a bit more “pull on the heartstrings” for engagement ?
