Rex – 1 year old male Kangal Cross
Meet regal Rex, a 1.5 year old male Kangal Cross who weighs around 40 kilograms. This beautiful boy was found straying in Nicosia, sadly dumped. He was discovered in a malnourished and sorry state — the poor boy was found just in time.
No one ever came forward to claim him, so he found himself entering a large municipality shelter. For months now, no one has taken an interest in this striking and loving dog.
Dogs like Rex, due to their size, often find themselves languishing in kennels for months or even years. We really don’t want that future for this gentle giant.
People are often put off by his size, even though he’s such a soft guy. Rex has lots of amazing qualities in spite of his size. He’s remarkably sweet and affectionate with people, adores fuss, and craves a good kiss and cuddle. His sweet nature has made him a firm favourite with the shelter staff.
Rex isn’t the greatest fan of other dogs, so we recommend a home with no other pets. He will need a home with some space and a largish garden. His energy is medium — he’ll need steady, short walks due to his size.
Kangals are a sturdy breed who possess some incredible characteristics. A working breed, Rex would appreciate mental stimulation as well as physical.

They often benefit from having a purpose or a small job. They are loyal, protective, and incredibly loving. An adopter who appreciates these large-breed qualities and has some experience would be ideal.
Rex isn’t cat tested; however, we wouldn’t recommend living with small furries due to his size. Families with older children over 12 years are welcome to apply.
We don’t want Rex to lose the best years of his life as a prisoner in a cage — too often the fate of large breeds. His size shouldn’t matter. He’s a dog! He has the same needs as any other dog, yet his size works against him — sadly, we see this all the time in rescue.
Please think about Rex when considering adopting a dog. A dog who will give you his all, love unconditionally, and be a loyal, gentle giant. A Kangal’s loyalty is not to be underestimated.
