Jessica – 3 year old female German Shepherd Cross
This beautiful German Shepherd Cross girl is approximately 3 years old.
She was found in the street but had no microchip, so was taken to a local municipality pound where she stayed for over 3 months.
Luckily, one of our STAR guardians visiting the pound saw her – it was obvious that poor Jessica needed to be found a foster home urgently; a tiny cage was no place for her, she was stressed and all alone.
Unfortunately, suitable places in foster homes are very scarce in Cyprus but Jessica was offered a space at a local shelter (with better space and better conditions), this is where she is today.
She now shares her space with other dogs both male and female with no issues at all. She loves human company and is always the first to great visitors.
She has shown such warmth constantly and considering what she has been through (who knows what or how bad)… this just shows her character trait and willingness to trust for the love she yearns for.
Although she is in a safe shelter now, these shelters are bursting at the seams and the dogs simply need more time and one on one love that our volunteers (amazing as they are) cannot give to each and every dog, especially when they are out rescuing more dogs in need.
Some dogs can cope better in safe shelters than others, German shepherd’s do not do well in a kennel environment and thrive for the individual love of “their own person”. Jessica is no different!
At approximately 30kg, Jessica will need an experienced home without younger children.
She does walk on a lead but can pull, (as most strays or abandoned and unloved dogs will), so she will need training with this, and positively reinforced consistently in her new home as she adapts to home life.
Like almost all German Shepherd types, she desperately wants to please and be praised. There is no doubt she will make a wonderful and loving companion with the right home, patience, some training and above all LOVE.
