Sumo – 2-3 year old male Labrador Retriever cross Shepherd

Sumo is a 2-3-year-old male Labrador/Shepherd Cross. He was found roaming as a stray before being picked up by the local dog warden and brought to a shelter in Cyprus.

Sadly, he had no microchip, and no one came forward to claim him. He has now spent over six months in the shelter, often overlooked due to his large size, but he is still waiting for his perfect forever home.

When Sumo first arrived, he was underweight, with a dirty and patchy coat, and sores from poor living conditions. Over time, with proper care, he has transformed into a healthy, strong dog with a soft white coat. He has expressive ears, kind eyes, and a loving personality.

Sumo adores human companionship and gets incredibly excited when he receives one-on-one attention. He is affectionate, loves cuddles, and has a playful, goofy side that shines when he feels comfortable.

Weighing around 30kg, Sumo is unaware of his size and often thinks he’s a lapdog, happily leaning in for snuggles and strokes. Despite his large frame, he is a gentle giant with a soft and loving nature. His affectionate personality makes him a joy to be around, and he is always eager to please.

Although he hasn’t had much lead training in the shelter, Sumo does well on walks. He may be a little excited at first and can be strong when pulling, but he listens well to redirection and is responsive to his handler.

He enjoys being outdoors, exploring new surroundings, and learning new commands. His love for treats makes him highly trainable, and he shows great promise for further training in a home environment.

Sumo currently shares a kennel with another large male dog, and while they generally get along, he prefers his space to be respected. He doesn’t mind the noise of barking dogs around him and stays focused on the person walking him. He could live with or without other dogs, depending on the right match.

Due to his size and strength, Sumo needs a family with some prior dog experience who can handle a larger breed confidently. He is best suited for a home with children aged 10 and above and would thrive in an active household with access to a garden. A quieter location slightly outside the city would be ideal for him.

Sumo is in good health, fully vaccinated, and ready to travel to the UK once he finds his forever home. He is a fantastic dog who will bring fun, love, and companionship to his future family.
