Frankie – 8 year old male Mioritic Shepherd

Frankie is an 8-year-old male Mioritic Shepherd. Standing tall at 67cm and weighing 40kg, Frankie is a large and handsome dog with a strong, protective nature.

Despite his size, Frankie is a playful, bouncy, and inquisitive companion who thrives on interaction, especially with the male in his current household.

Frankie has shown himself to be a confident and happy dog in certain situations. He sleeps well throughout the night without disturbances, indicating that he feels secure and relaxed in the right environment.

Unfortunately, Frankie has experienced challenges adapting to his current home, where he has developed a fearful reaction towards the woman in the house.

This behaviour may stem from his traumatic past, where trust was likely broken, and he now appears to be protective of the male he feels bonded to.

A behavioural specialist was suggested to help Frankie overcome these issues, but the current family has chosen not to pursue this route.

It is clear that Frankie would benefit from a single-male household, ideally with someone who has experience with Mioritic Shepherds and their unique traits. This kind of environment would allow him to build trust and flourish without added pressures.

Frankie’s early life in Romania was marked by severe hardships, which have understandably left their mark. Despite this, he has made great strides. He is house-trained, lead and harness-trained, though he may be sensitive around his neck due to past trauma.

He is content to be left alone for a few hours without displaying separation anxiety or destructive behaviours. He finds comfort on his mat in the conservatory, where he feels safe and secure.

Frankie shares his current home with a smaller dog, suggesting that he can live with other dogs, provided they are properly introduced.

However, he is not suited to homes with cats or children due to his behavioural needs. Frankie’s daily routine includes two meals consisting of wet and dry food, along with treats, which he enjoys.

Frankie needs a patient and understanding adopter who will provide him with a loving, stable environment. With the right care and support, this loyal and affectionate dog can continue to thrive and overcome his past.

He is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on flea and worm treatments, ready for his forever home.
