Pippa – 1-2 year old female Cross- Breed

Pippa is a 1-2 year old female Cross- Breed. She is a beautiful, playful and affectionate girl who is seeking a new home due to a change in her owner’s circumstances. She is epileptic and recent events mean that her family are no longer able to support her medical needs.

Pippa has lived in the same home since she was a puppy. She was the result of a planned private litter, her mum is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Whippet and her dad is a full Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Pippa is a wonderful girl with a superb temperament. She is very sociable with children, adults and other dogs. Pippa started with seizures when she was around 12-14 weeks old.

She was taken straight to the vets and was kept in overnight for monitoring, tests and diagnosis where it was discovered that she was epileptic. Pippa’s condition is easily managed with medication and she can still enjoy life the same as any other dog. Pippa’s family currently pay £35.02 a month for a box of 60 x 60mg Epiphen tablets which are to be given twice a day 12 hours apart at 7am and 7pm.

The price of medication can differ at veterinary practices so you would need to speak to your own vet for an estimate cost, however we may be able to offer support with this if Pippa is rehomed locally. Pippa has also been prescribed rectal Diazepam to be given when her seizures last longer than 20 seconds. Her family have only had to use one of these in the last 9 months as generally her seizures are very short.

Pippa currently has approximately 1 seizure a month which lasts for around 10-20 seconds. The owners have spoken with the vet who said that this is normal. She requires a check-up, medication review and blood test every 6 months. Pippa is an absolute star of a dog who is clean, house trained and non-destructive. We believe that she would fit well into most homes.

Pippa currently lives with children and is also used to visiting children. She could live with children aged 8+ in her new home. As Pippa is only young an active home would suit her best with someone around for most of the day. She is friendly with other dogs and could live with another dog in her new home, however she has never lived with cats.
