Paris – 5 year old female Labrador Retriever

Paris is a 5 year old labrador who is  now looking for her forever home – could that be you?
After a life of breeding in China, Paris was sold to the meat trade –  Mr G rescued her from the trucks back in late 2022. Paris became ill with distemper but made an amazing recovery and we were able to fly her to the UK last summer in July 2023.
She was one of the most shut down dogs we’ve seen but her lovely, gentle soul shone through.
Paris has been living with her foster family since August 2023 and has been learning about the world – from living in a home and being part of a family to exploring a garden (and eating their raspberries!!) and the world a bit more – truly starting to enjoy life as she should.
Her foster mum has helped Paris reach her her ideal weight of c37kg (she was 50kg when she arrived!) and it’s made such a difference for her. She’s coming on in leaps and bounds and is so much more like a true lab now!!
Paris has been great in the house – adapting very quickly, very house proud, loves to be involved in what’s going on and has adjusted to home comforts well! She loves her cuddles, sitting with you on the sofa and exploring the garden. She’s learnt so much, including some commands and routines and whilst she can still a little reserved about new things, she’s continues to learn and build her confidence more every day.
Paris has her spay op in a couple of weeks time and will then be ready to join her forever home and family at the end of July/early August.
Her new family will be understanding, encouraging and patient –  prepared to continue her training, building her confidence and helping her open up to new experiences at her speed. She’s a real home bird who enjoys being close to you if you are at home/work from home (loves sitting next to you or under your desk!).
Paris would like to live with another similar sized dog – one she can play and run around with, have some fun and continue to learn from. She’s learning to walk on her harness and lead for longer distances at the moment and loves her dog walking field trips.
She can be left comfortably for a few hours, preferably with a doggy friend(s) for company. She is used to being on her own occasionally for shorter times. We think Paris is about 4 years old.
Paris is currently living with two smaller dogs and is a calm, laid back girl (she shows excitement when you come in, her food is coming or she knows she’s off to the dog walking field!) and hasn’t shown any interest in visiting cats or birds to the garden.
She’s used to adults and older children – as she’s a big lab, she may be best suited to homes with older children who will understand she’s still learning about spatial awareness and can treat her kindly and respectfully.
We would encourage you to meet Paris if you’re interested in adopting. Her foster home is in Hertfordshire near Hertford/ Bishops Stortford and her foster mum is happy to host a visit or arrange a meet up close by.
