Gus, Jock, Dougie, & Tam – 4 month old male Pointer Cross

Image
Gus, Jock, Dougie, & Tam are 4 month old male Pointer Cross. The Band of Brother’s litter. Four gorgeous puppy brothers – totally beautiful siblings! Sadly their tails were already docked before they were found. They have liver and white, mottled, soft, short coats. They were found on the street and brought to the shelter. No owner came forward, so they are now offered for adoption. They are all laid-back, happy, easy-going dogs. Although they are currently in an outdoor barn, they don’t do any toilet inside – they wait until they are let out. Truly lovely dogs. We are looking for friendly dogs for them to live with and children over 10 years, please. None are tested for cats. Here is more about them. Gus is a very intelligent pup with a gentle nature. He will walk on a lead and sit when asked. With a bit of training, he will be an amazing dog. He has been socialised with other dogs. Gus is very loving and will come and sit in front of you and gaze into your soul with his lov

Visiting Biltmore With Dogs + More To Do In Asheville, NC

Image
The Biltmore Estate is one of North Carolina’s most iconic tourist destinations. And certainly you’ll want to see it when you’re in Asheville. But can you bring pets? Yes! Exploring Biltmore with dogs is fun for everyone!   George Vanderbilt’s first guests arrived at the 250-room country retreat he named “Biltmore” on Christmas Eve, 1895. The house is an architectural wonder, with more than four acres of floor space, including 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, and 65 fireplaces. It’s still owned by Vanderbilt’s descendants, and it remains the largest privately-owned home in the United States. Biltmore’s Pet Friendly Legacy The Biltmore Estate has always welcomed pets. George and Edith Vanderbilt’s Saint Bernards and wolfhounds lived in the lap of luxury. Their daughter, Cornelia, followed in her parents’ footsteps, having not only dogs, but also a parrot named Coco, and a pet skunk! While visiting pets are no longer allowed inside the home, Biltmore has carried on its pet friendly tr

Sunday – 1-2 year old male Romanian Shepherd Dog

Image
Sunday is a 1-2 year old male Romanian Shepherd Dog. He is fostered in Norwich Norfolk. This stunning and sweet-natured boy was in the Botosani public shelter when we visited back in March. Sunday was a favour with the whole team and came for several walks with us. He has now arrived in his UK foster home and, as happy as we are to be reunited with him. It saddens us so much to see how much weight he has lost and the toll that those extra weeks in the shelter have taken on him. Sunday mixes beautifully with other dogs, loves everybody he’s met, walks beautifully on a lead and is generally an amazing dog. Sunday is a big boy (or was before the weight loss ? ) and he is still young so some further training may be necessary. Sunday cannot live with cats but is fantastic with children as young as eight in his foster home. Sunday could live as an only dog or as part of a pair or pack. When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new do

Sandy – 2 year old female Golden Retriever

Image
Sandy is a 2 year old female Golden Retriever. She was rescued by our partner shelter in Egypt and is now looking for a new home in the UK. Sandy is a lovely girl who is now ready for her new home, ideally with an owner who has owned dogs before, with direct access to a garden in a semi-rural area. Sandy is comfortable around other dogs, and pending introductions, could potentially live with a calm male dog. She could be a great companion for families with children aged 12+. Please note that Sandy’s adoption fee is £750 to help cover the cost of her flight to the UK. The adoption fee covers Sandy’s vaccinations, microchip, neuter and pet (non-travel) passport.

Minnie – 5 year old female Terrier Cross

Image
Minnie is a 5 year old female Terrier Cross. She is looking for a new home after sadly being picked up as a stray. Minnie is a lovely girl and enjoys getting attention and fuss, but can be shy until she gets to know you so she would benefit from living in a quiet home (with direct access to a garden) with an owner who had had dogs before. Although she is okay with other dogs, Minnie would prefer to be the only dog in the home. No cats, please. Minnie could live with children aged 12+.

Vera – 2 year old female Cross-Breed

Image
Vera is a 2 year old female Cross-Breed. She is currently located in Portsmouth. Her home arrangements have fallen through since her family didn’t have time to spend with her and help her settle. Vera is a lovely girl, anxious when left alone, therefor we need someone at home most of the time, with the patience to train her to overcome those challenges and grow in confidence. Vera is a happy girl once settled and can and has lived with other animals, so a multi-pet household is not a problem as long as introductions are done properly.

Reef – 11 month old male Cane Corso cross Presa Canario

Image
Reef is an 11 month old male Cane Corso cross Presa Canario. He can be worried about meeting new people and being in new situations. Sadly, he has not had the best start to life and a lack of socialisation and love has made the world a bit too overwhelming for him. His new owner will need to be kind & understanding, giving him lots of time and reassurance to help build his trust and continue his socialisation. Reef loves a routine and enjoys his haven of toys and food and the consistency of an owner. He is very clever and has mastered how to open doors just to be with you. Reef will require his new owner to be flexible and gradually increase the time he can be left, aid him with house training and socialising as well as opening his bubble at his pace with lots of

Lula – 3 year old female Cross-Breed

Lula is an active girl who loves being out and about in quite enjoying the world and all the new smells. Lula would love an active family to keep her mentally stimulated with lots of mental enrichment and competition-style obedience. Lula is very food motivated and loves all of her treats including the healthy things and meat too! but no chicken! Lula is an affectionate girl with the people she trusts and loves lots of affection, belly rubs and ear scratches. Lula needs an adult-only home. Lula would prefer a dog-free home. For an experienced home, we would consider a large doggy companion. Lula cannot live with cats. Lula accepts a collar, harness and lead however can be strong on the lead so will need to work on this in her new home. She also has a very high prey drive and can be reactive towards d

Patrick – 4 year old male Cross-Breed

Image
Patrick is a 4 year old male Cross-Breed. He is a firecracker of a dog who has such a happy, wonderful character. Patrick loves playing with his toys, squeaky toys and balls are his absolute favourites. Patrick does need some guidance with play as he will keep going until his last breath and needs toys taken off him so that he will rest. Patrick walks amazingly on the lead and doesn’t pull one bit until he sees another dog. He is not reactive but just gets super excited and wants to play. Patrick loves his walks and will use the toilet when out on walks. He never tends to go into the garden and would be best suited in an active home and ideally with an adopter who is home to take him on his many walks each day. Patrick is great with dogs of all sizes; he could easily live with another dog or would happily live as an only dog. Patrick also gets on great with cats and lives in complete harmony with them in his foster home, he never bothers the cats and they cohabit perfectly. Pat

Malvern & Maritta – 3-6 year old male and female Cross-Breeds

Image
Malvern & Maritta are 3-6 year old male and female Cross-Breeds. They are a very bonded pair who are ideally looking for a forever home where they can stay together. They were sadly someone’s pet but were then abandoned in Romania and ended up in a horrible kill shelter. Thankfully they were saved by a rescuer and travelled to a foster home in the UK. These two adore people and are very happy to snuggle on the sofa and soak up all the love and fuss on offer. They have shown no issues with welcoming visitors into the home, these get the same happy welcome. This cheeky pair are full of energy and at certain points of the day have mad zoomy times around the garden. However they are quick to wind down as well, they are crate trained and can be left for several hours with no issues. Malvern (grey and white) is the more outgoing of the pair. He walks well on a lead although can be a little spooked by loud noises. He can jump up a bit when he is so excited to his foster is working o

Pippa – 1 year old female Terrier Cross

Image
Pippa is a 1 year old female Terrier Cross. She is now ready to find her forever home. She is currently in foster in Harrow Weald, North West London. Gorgeous girl Pippa is originally from Romania, having been left out on the streets to fend for herself, and has now been in the UK for approx 6 weeks and is slowly settling into a home environment. Her fur looks wiry but is very soft. She is small in size but her body is quite long with little legs and currently weighs in at just under 10kg. You can see from the photos that she has wonderful dark ‘eye liner’ and lovely big ears (which remind me a little of a Gremlin). Pippa is a wonderful all-round little dog, During the day she likes to spend time sleeping on the sofa or the bed and you do have to coax her to move. But when she sees you have her harness she gets ever so excited and loves being out on walks and strutting her stuff. She is good with people and other dogs when approached calmly rather than excitedly and fast. Pipp

Tilly – 4 year old female Collie Cross

Image
Tilly is a 4 year old female Collie Cross. She was adopted from us in 2020 and has been absolutely adored. Sadly her mum has passed away suddenly so she needs a new forever home or even a foster home for now. Tilly came from a dreadful start in life but her mum invested lots of time and effort with her and she’s a very loving girl now. Tilly can be reactive to other dogs and her mum walked her on a muzzle to avoid any accidents (she’s happy to have her muzzle put on) but she does go out with a dog Walker and will play with the dogs she knows. Tilly will definitely need to be the only dog in the home and someone willing to continue working with her on socialising with other dogs. Tilly’s good with children 4+ but not comfortable around babies/toddlers so a home with kids 4+ and without cats, please. Tilly is walked on a halti as she can pull but she does have good recall of lead. She travels fine, is fine to be left for reasonable periods and is a loving little girl. Tilly like

Visiting Watkins Glen With Pets – A Gorge-ous Spot To Explore

Image
Visiting Watkins Glen with pets takes some preparation. Especially if you want to hike the gorge. But it’s so worth the effort! Here’s what you need to know to plan your pet friendly visit.   Watkins Glen is located at the base of Seneca Lake, one of eleven lakes carved by retreating Ice Age glaciers. Spreading like claw marks across central New York, the lakes give the region it’s name – the Finger Lakes. While locals have crowned the area “New York’s Wine Country”, the Finger Lakes region is that and so much more. With a wide range of four-season outdoor recreation, quaint downtowns, and a plethora of excellent wineries and breweries, it’s an exceptional pet friendly vacation destination. And Watkins Glen makes a wonderful basecamp for your adventures.   Watkins Glen State Park No trip to Watkins Glen would be complete without a trip to the state park, which is located right downtown (1000 N Franklin Street). In a region filled with stunning state parks, Watkins Glen Stat
