Cookie – 1-2 year old male Labrador Cross

Cookie is a 1-2 year old male Labrador Cross. He is a playful, happy, boisterous pup who thrives from human interaction in the comfort of familiar surroundings i.e. the house.

Cookie loves to play with a ball in the garden and will fetch and bring it to who ever will play with him. He also likes belly tickles and will gladly roll over for them.

Cookie will sit and give a paw for a treat. Cookie enjoys playing very much he needs plenty of mental stimulation and walks.

Cookie is lead trained but can pull so continued work will be needed. Cookie doesn’t like being left for long periods at a time and has become destructive within the house if he isn’t getting enough mental stimulation or walks.

Cookie is working on his separation anxiety is going to be vital.

Cookie isn’t keen on people approaching him on walks when he is out of his comfort zone but within the home, he is absolutely fine.

Cookie has met one of the Meadow of Hope team who he was thrilled to see and engage in lots of play with no aggression shown towards her. He would suit a home with a big garden in a quiet location.

Cookie was bought into safety after his mum was being used to produce many litters. We encouraged the owner to spay the mum which he did and cookie was surrendered to our team.

Cookie was cared for in Romania until his adoption to the U.K. in March 2022. He is fully housetrained.

Cookie currently eats in the kitchen from a raised bowl x2 a day. Cookie is very food orientated so best when humans are eating that cookie can’t get to their food.

Cookie drinks one large bowl of water each day. He is a young, strong dog who loves to play but forgets himself around younger children and may be too boisterous for those under 14 years old.

Cookie is a very happy bouncy playful young boy who would benefit from a child-free/older child household where adults are home a significant amount of time during the day. He currently gets 1 x 2k walk 4/5 times per week but could comfortably manage (and benefit from) more.

Cookie also gets very excited and will play nip to get attention when he feels you’ve stopped playing so this will need redirection.

Cookie is currently left alone for prolonged periods so is desperate to engage in play when he can.

With regular exercise, play and training, we are confident this would stop. He may benefit from some training/behaviour classes 1-1.

Cookie has met other dogs in his home before (dogs belonging to other family members) and is largely OK in these scenarios however outside the house.

Cookie can often be reactive when meeting other dogs so initially a home who is willing to walk him in calmer places initially whilst training is worked on. Not a fan of cats so best as the only pet.

Cookie is less confident in crowded spaces/lots of people and tends to withdraw slightly so a quiet area.

Cookie loves human interaction and would do best as an only dog and only pet in a household where the family lead a fairly active life and he could enjoy lots of walks and playtime away from busy parks etc initially.

Cookie is a very clever boy and can open the backdoor in his current home. The new family would need to be careful of this!

Cookie does not resource guard at all and is happy being groomed, and petted, doesn’t have sleep startle, isn’t bothered about having food/toys taken away and has no sensitive spots on his body to avoid.

It would be essential that whoever is interested in cookie that they can meet him before adoption.
