Dora – 2 year old female Retriever cross Spaniel

Dora is a 2 year old female Retriever cross Spaniel. She was found on the streets and dumped in an overcrowded public shelter before being rescued by one of our partners in Bosnia.

Dora is a very sweet girl, but her personality is still coming out bit by bit.

Dora can’t believe that people only want to cuddle her, and not hurt her, so we dread to think of her experience in the public shelter before she came to us.

Despite Dora only being at the shelter for a short period she is bonding well with the volunteers and her confidence is coming on loads.

Dora is keen to socialise, and engage with people and other dogs, and she’s loving all the affection that’s coming her way.

Dora can be a little bit reserved with unfamiliar people at the start but as long as you approach her gently she will shortly be leaning in for a stroke.

Dora is on the smaller side of medium and weighs around 14kg at the moment. She is estimated to be two years old, and she looks like a tiny, curly-coated Golden Retriever (emphasis on looks like, it’s impossible to know her exact mix as she’s a street dog).

Dora gets along really happily with other dogs and enjoys their company, so could live alongside a resident dog. This would also benefit her confidence in a new and unfamiliar environment.

Dora has been introduced to cats and has not shown any adverse reactions so we think in a home with confident resident felines she wouldn’t exhibit any major issues.

It does take new dogs and resident pets a while to form a relationship, so patience will be key in ensuring the animals learn to get along, or even just tolerate one another.

Dora has also been around children, but as she can at times be a bit skittish we think she would be happier in a home with children aged 8+.

Dora’s ideal home would be based in the countryside where she can enjoy a moderately active home.

Dora would be quite happy with a slightly older couple who enjoy an outdoorsy routine but a calm home lifestyle, and she would prefer a home with a garden.

Dora is currently based in Bosnia and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she has a forever home to go to.
