Rio – 10 month old male Saluki Cross

Rio is a 10 month old male Saluki Cross. He is currently located in Oman. He was rescued with his two sisters after they were found on the dangerous streets of Muscat.

Rio and his sisters are still with the lady who rescued them. Rio is a sweet little guy.

Rio hasn’t had much experience of the wider world so will need a very kind and patient owner to let him explore the world and gain confidence at his pace.

Rio had surgery on his front legs earlier this year. He had an ulna osteotomy on each forelimb because one of the bones in his forelimb (the ulna) on each side had not grown as it should.

The vet advised that if left untreated, it could cause pressure on the elbow causing the elbow to dislocate and have arthritis when he’s fully grown.

The surgery however stopped this from happening and ensured that he lives a happy comfortable life!

Rio has grown up in the company of dogs and cats and has gotten along well with both. Due to the number of pets in his current home, he’s only walked twice a week but he is leash-trained and wears a harness.

Rio’s ideal home would be in a semi-rural location, with or without other pets, and older children (if any) as he’s not used to children.
