Zuma – 6 year old male Dachshund Cross

Zuma is a 6 year old male Dachshund Cross. He weighs 12 kg, and shoulder height of 36 cm. He was roaming the streets for months with a fellow stray doggie, trying to survive before they were reported to the local rescue that collected them. He currently lives with a family and 6 other dogs and he is longing for a family of his own.

He was a bit aloof after arriving to his foster family but he soon started to trust and now he is a smiley boy with a constantly wagging tail He enjoys cuddles and the attention he gets which is sadly not a lot being the 7th dog in the household. He loves people and is a happy active boy in general.

He loves his food too and sits down nicely and waits until it’s his turn at dinner time. He is good around dogs but he is not particularly interested in them so he would probably be happiest as the only dog in the household.

He likes running around with his current pack mates though and enjoys a chase. He has epilepsy and sadly he was surrendered by his adopting family due to his condition.

He has gone through all the tests recommended by the vets and no underlying condition was found that could have caused his fits. He’s only ever had mild and quite seldom seizures (1 or 2 a month) and he had none since he started his medication.

However, his new family will need to factor in the cost of medication and a yearly check up and blood test to monitor his condition.

He is house trained and travels nicely in the car. He also walks nicely on the lead and enjoys his walks. He also behaved nicely at the vets.

He would be best suited in an adult only household where he is not left alone for long periods of time as he loves being around his humans. His future family will need to be patient and continue his training.

He will need to be given time to settle in his new home and to get used to his new environment gradually. He is a kind cuddly boy and he could make a wonderful companion in the right family. He would probably be happiest being the only dog and the centre of attention in his new family.

He is used to living with cats so felines in the household are no problem. As all rescue dogs, he will need time, patience, love and commitment from his adopting family to become a happy well-balanced dog. Experience with rescue dogs is preferred. No first time owners please.

He is currently in Hungary and can travel to the UK as soon as the right family is found for him. He comes neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, flea and tick treated, with an EU passport and DEFRA approved paperwork. The adoption is subject to Home Check and Adoption fee. Full RBU provided.
