Miska – 2 year old female Cross-Breed

Image
Miska is a 2 year old female Cross-Breed. This stunning girl can be a little shy with strangers but once she knows you she is wonderfully friendly and affectionate. Miska loves a cuddle and a fuss. She will need an experienced adopter who can give her the time and patience she needs to learn to adapt to her new life. Miska can be a little wary of new experiences so a large secure garden will be essential for her so she doesnt have to be walked till she is ready. Although she does now walk very well on her lead. Miska loves her food especially tuna. She will need a patient and understanding adopter able to help her and train her in all the things she needs. Miska has lived in a home before with other dogs. Currently based in South Yorkshire with adoption under contract, home checks, fees and visits required.

Mira – 2 year old female Cross-Breed

Image
Mira is a small 2 year old female Cross-Breed. She was abandoned on the Romanian border with Bulgaria and had a stroke of luck when one of our rescuer friends passed through on return from a holiday. Mira was plonked in the car and driven to safety. Since then Mira has been in a foster home in Romania and we stayed with her during our recent trip. She is a super friendly and affectionate little dog who has lived with dogs and cats. Unfortunately Mira tested positive for heartworm and has had treatment for this but will need a pill once a month for the next year, the pills will be provided and there will be no costs involved to adopters. Mira fostered Brundall Norfolk. Please note it is Safe Rescue policy that all dogs adopted from us must wear a slip lead to be walked for the duration of their lives. Too many dogs are lost from slipping out of collars and harnesses and many of our dogs are timid due to past ill treatment and are likely to panic when out and about. It is absolutely

Pacho – 2 year old male Cross-Breed

Image
Pacho is a 2 year old male Cross-Breed. He has sadly been returned to us and is currently in kennels in Lincolnshire. His adopters say he is a lovely boy, wonderful with all people he meets and welcoming to visitors to the home. Pacho’s problem is he does not like other dogs and living in a suburban location with lots of dogs does not suit him. Pacho needs a rural home with someone experienced with reactive dogs. You would need to be prepared to muzzle train Pacho for his own safety and your peace of mind. Pacho can live with children aged 6 and over, he cannot however live with any other animals. If you have time and experience to help Pacho deal with his reactivity then please get in touch, he will in the right setting make someone a very loving companion.

Pattie – 3 year old female Bedlington Terrier Cross

Image
Please meet Placid Pattie. Pattie is a beautiful little 3 year old female Bedlington Terrier Cross. We suspect poor little Pattie has spent her entire life in a kennel as a breeding bitch at a puppy farm, because of this when she came to us via the stray pound. She knew nothing about being a dog! Pattie is very much a work in progress. She is the sweetest most affectionate little girl once she trusts you but this takes time, it’s taken her about 2 weeks to come and cuddle with me on the sofa. Now you can’t keep her off! She has adjusted well to living in a house and doesn’t appear to be scared of house hold noises etc, however she needs ongoing help with house training. She will use pads and has got better but this will be ongoing – with regular walks she should pick it up quite soon. She isn’t destructive but loves socks and throws. She mouths and mothers them! She absolutely must live with another dog, as being with dogs has bought her right out of her shell here. She is even beg

Rosie – 5 month old female Cross-Breed

Image
Rosie is a 5 month old female Cross-Breed. Tiny Rosie is a cute little puppy girl with a short black white and tan coat. She will be very small when full grown. Rosie was brought to the shelter after being abandoned and picked up by a member of the public. In fact, this happened twice because someone found her, didn’t find the owner so it would appear, put her back on the street. She was about 10 weeks old at the time and tiny. She is still tiny but has grown a little. She is a gorgeous, loving and friendly little girl. She gets on well with other dogs that she shares with. Current location is in Portugal can travel to the UK once she has a home to go to in December. Adoption Fee : £525 – to be paid direct to the Portuguese rescue to cover new, excessive, extra EU travel costs, via UK bank account.

Reuben – 4 year old male Spaniel Cross

Image
Reuben is 4 year old male Spaniel Cross. This handsome boy has a beautiful silky chestnut coat and brown eyes. Reuben first came to us 3 months ago. A man came to the shelter and said he had just hit a dog with his motorbike. We went to pick him up and he was in a sorry state. Obviously in pain and he had a hemorrhage in both eyes. X rays revealed he had a fractured hip. He went straight into foster and began his rehabilitation. It was around 3 weeks before he was able to walk and he had a lot of weight to gain. He has now made a good recovery and is sharing his life with 7 other dogs. We were concerned as to whether he had a head injury so he was taken to the vet for a thorough examination. Everything was fine except during the accident some of the muscles in his eyes must have been damaged. His eyes now point slightly skywards so when he looks at you he looks like he is looking at the floor. This hasn’t affected him in any way and ask you can see from the photos and videos, he i

Hugo – 3 year old male Retriever Cross

Image
Hugo is a 3 year old male Retriever Cross. He is a rescue from Cyprus who is now in the UK and looking for his forever home. He is currently living in kennels in the Portsmouth area and here is a little about him. He is a gorgeous, happy boy with an incredible smile. He gets on well with other dogs and is really sociable. His favourite pastime is chasing and playing with balls and he would happily do that all day. He has not been cat tested. He is looking for an amazing, loving home who will devote some time to further training, and playing with his ball with him! If you might be interested in adopting Hugo and have a secure garden and time to include him in your daily life, when contacting us please provide a little information as follows: 1. Butterfly – 8 year old female Komondor Cross

Image
Butterfly is an 8 year old female Komondor cross. She was rescued from her owner who kept her chained up and totally neglected for years. She is currently fostered in Hungary and adapting nicely to living in a family home. Butterfly is a real sweetheart who loves humans almost as much as she loves cheese! She is friendly with everyone, loves cuddles and loves to spend time with her family. She’s a bit sensitive and nervous in new situations and she needs a confident owner to make her feel safe. She walks well on the leash the majority of time but can pull when she gets excited. She doesn’t like larger dogs, especially if they do not show respect and she can get barky and growly with them on the lead but she can easily be distracted with cheese bites. On the other hand, she has a soft spot for small dogs, she adores them and she currently lives with one who she is very playful with. Butterfly is a Komondor cross which is a breed with a strong personality but with the right motivat

Tom – 18 month old male Spanish Mastin Cross

Image
Tom is an 18 month old male Spanish Mastin Cross. Lovely Tom is in kennels in Lincolnshire after his initial adoption failed. Despite the fact that he is being very well looked after he is not coping well in kennels and is losing weight. Tom is an anxious boy and is noise reactive so a quiet rural home would be ideal. Tom will need someone at home most of the time to help him build his confidence. We would love to get him into a home where he can start to relax and appreciate the security and comfort this would bring. Tom may have impaired vision and his movements are not as good as we would like so you must be prepared to take Tom to the vet to get checks done. Tom’s vet fees will be met by the charity. Due to Tom requiring vet treatment we are looking for an experienced foster with an option/view to adopt once vet checks have been carried out. Tom cannot live with other dogs, small furries or children. If you feel that you can meet the criteria above and are willing to work wi

Will – 3-4 month old male Griffon Cross

Image
Will is a 3-4 month old male Griffon Cross. This gorgeous boy is Will, born on the 14/08/21 to a Griffon mother who was brought into rescue. His father is unknown, so we estimate the pups will be a small/medium size once fully grown, but they could easily be bigger. Please read our full criteria below carefully. Applications that do not meet these will not be considered. We hope you can understand. Will is a truly wonderful puppy – sweet-natured, playful and happy. He is learning to socialize with other dogs and to enjoy attention from people, and her new family will need to be aware of the commitment and patience that training a young puppy involves. He will need to be taught everything from the beginning – how to walk on a lead, travel in the car, meet other people and dogs when walking, all her basic manners and house training. A puppy like Will will be a wonderful addition to any family, but please bear in mind the mess, chewing, time and training that a puppy brings into the

Asia – 5 year old female German Short-Haired Pointer

Image
Asia is a 5 year old female German Short-Haired Pointer who we have just taken in. She knows basic commands and is sweet and sociable in her foster home with other dogs big and small. Bonnie – 2 year old female Cross-Breed

Image
Bonnie is a 2 year old female Cross-Breed. She was handed into the public shelter in Romania in the spring of this year, she had had a litter of puppies, the owner wanted the puppies and not Bonnie, she is a typical black dog and they are discarded like rubbish. On a trip to Romania in July, I spotted this beautiful friendly girl and had to give her a chance of a new life. Bonnie was a tethered dog, meaning she had been tied up in a yard from a pup and never walked or let off to run and explore. When she came to the UK it was as though she knew she was free, she has adapted to living in a house in a very short period of time and she loves it, she is already clean in the house. This lady is super affectionate and loves nothing more than giving kisses and cuddles, she really enjoys human company and her idea of heaven is cuddling up with you on the sofa. Bonnie is used to other dogs having lived with her sister all of her life and does seem to like canine company although she would b

Shirah – 3 year old female Cross-Breed

Image
Shirah is a 3 year old female Cross-Breed. As can be plainly seen Shirah is a beautiful girl. She is good with other dogs but typical of her type can be a bit reactive to people she doesn’t know well. Her current carer will be away for Christmas and would prefer it if Shirah could find an alternative home before then as the person dog sitting is not hugely dog experienced and Shirah might just take advantage. So we are looking for a child free home with people who are going to be spending a quiet Xmas at home. Any applicants need to be very confident around dogs and preferably live in easy travelling distance of Swindon so that several meet ups could take place. Shirah is still a work in progress and is not yet out on walks but this girl has so much to offer and once she gains more confidence she will make a very loyal companion.

Tips For Visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park with Pets

Image
Theodore Roosevelt National Park lies in western North Dakota, where the Great Plains meet the rugged Badlands. It’s a spectacular landscape. But one that requires planning if you’re traveling with pets.   Western North Dakota is breathtakingly beautiful and offers a lot to see and do. Both the north and south units of Theodore Roosevelt National Park are popular, and the Bully Pulpit Golf Course – one of America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses according to Golf Digest, the Cowboy Hall of Fame, and the famous Medora Musical are all here. Unfortunately, if you’re looking for pet friendly activities, you’ll find slim pickin’s. None of the trails in the national park allow dogs. Even the portion of the pet friendly Maah Daah Hey Trail that runs through the south unit of the park is off-limits to dogs. (Fortunately, the Buffalo Gap spur trail allows pooches and their people to skirt around the national park.)   Chimney Park is a decent place to do a lap and read the plaques
